Dan Wood Announces Run for Congress,
Texas 5th District

TERRELL, TX – Dan Wood officially announces his run for Texas’s Fifth Congressional District as a Democrat fighting for the underdog.

“I believe we need to give this Congressional seat back to the voters of the 5th District. The current Congressman serves the interests of Wall Street Banks and Billionaires rather than consumers. Wall Street does not have hard-working East Texans’ best interest in mind.”

Wood is running on the Democratic Party ballot in the 2018 Primary Election. If successful in the Primary, he will challenge Rep. Jeb Hensarling for the seat in the 2018 General Election. The Fifth Congressional District consists of Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, Kaufman, Van Zandt, and parts of Dallas and Wood counties.

For 30 years, Wood has practiced law in the trial and appellate courts of Texas. Wood is a graduate of Terrell High School, a former student at Texas A&M University, and a Baylor Law School graduate receiving a J.D. in 1986. Wood has been active in his hometown of Terrell currently serving as chair of the Terrell Library Advisory Board, and formerly serving as a city councilman and mayor pro tem. Wood was the 2012 Democratic nominee for Place 2 on the Dallas Court of Appeals.
